April 11 @ The Hinterlands / Play House, Detroit
(“The Italian Papers” only)
What do you need to leave behind to arrive at your seat at the table? PAPER WIND is a collection of two mini-works featuring Walkabout ensemble members Katie Mazzini, Thom Pasculli, Nigel Brown, and Dana Murphy.
“Starch in the Wind” is a prequel investigation of Walkabout’s next ensemble show THE RAVELING, an avant garde history play.
“The Italian Papers” is a piece developed by Thom and Katie during their time at the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards.
Both works provide an intimate exploration into Walkabout’s signature montage aesthetic. The ensemble will interweave personal narrative, song, dance, and found text to explore questions of creative myth-making, heritage, musical theater, and transformation.

As the borders of home are redefined across generations, The Raveling teases apart the threads of heritage, history and hearsay in its cast of co-creators hailing from Chicago, Toronto, and New Delhi. The Raveling is part family fever dream, part fairy tale, and part detective story as the knot of belonging is stretched and pulled across countries and decades of legends, heroes, and misadventures.
